Civil Servants

I strongly believe our civil servants are a huge reason for our successes as a city. They have expertise and deep insight into the functions of our government, and should be our first stop in gathering information into how the city is doing and what might we improve.

To that end, I humbly submit the following questions to our City Departments, so that we, as the public, can better understand what our civil servants know and need.

  • With a “continuous improvement” or “growth” mindset, what is one thing you would like to change/do/expand in your department?

  • What is a challenge that with a little bit of support, you think could be solved?

  • What, in your opinion, is the best value service your department provides?

  • To achieve our City’s Long-term Goals, as outlined in the General Plan, what changes or investments does your department need?

  • Do you have all / most / some / few of the resources you need to achieve your department’s assignments? How would you suggest changing that?

  • Do you get too little / adequate / too much involvement from the public in your department? How would you suggest changing that?

  • What is a City Code you think is working well, or one that isn’t working well?

  • How do you think we can foster a stronger sense of community & civic spirit?

  • What is your favorite thing about working for our City?

Thank you,
